Xbox 360 Arcade console no longer rumor

No longer a rumor, Microsoft announced the new family-friendly Xbox 360 Arcade console has hit retail stores. The new console – a much improved version of the Core –  includes a wireless controller, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) connection, 256 MB of memory useful for storing games and entertainment content as well as 5 very respectable Arcade titles (PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy) all for the Core price of $279.99.

In keeping with the family oriented theme, Microsoft also announced the addition of more than 100 episodes of popular Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Nickelodeon TV shows including more than 50 episodes of the classic Looney Tunes library in high definition as well as several shows from Nickelodeon’s various channels like “The Backyardigans”, “Blues Clues”, “iCarly” and more.

We’ve been wondering for a while how and when Xbox would finally pursue the Nintendo Wii market, clearly the group this package is targeted towards. If buyers can look beyond the hype that has fueled Wii sales this past year, they will undoubtedly realize that this new Xbox console offers much more value for the money.
