Ross comes up big!

My good buddy Ross attended The Gathering 07, a huge community event in London last month hosted by XCN and Microsoft. The event featured some hands-on with current and future titles, impressive keynote addresses and more. And as an added bonus, the dude cleaned up in a Halo 3 competition and walked away with a wicked prize package!

All the details from the event can be found in his write-up here. I’ve asked him to send along some photos of the prizes for a future post.

Rockband.com community site to open with game launch

Not quite sure how I missed this from the other day, but Harmonix, MTV Games and distribution partner Electronic Arts revealed details earlier this week of their plan to launch the community-centric ROCKBAND.com. This new site, which is scheduled to go live on November 20, alongside the North American release of Rock Band, will offer a ton of features to help bring fans of the game together including:

Personal & Band Pages:
ROCKBAND.com will automatically load your in-game characters and game stats from an online database so your personal profile page will always be up to date. Choose from four genres in the game to customize your profile pages with cool background skins that reflect your rock tastes.

Band Classifieds: Find and create your own band through the ROCKBAND.com Band Classifieds page. Here you can advertise your own rocker skills or search through dozens of rocker profiles to choose band mates who share similar music tastes.

Rock Band Leaderboards: Climb to the top of the charts as a solo artist or band! From band rankings to solo scores, the ROCKBAND.com leaderboards will earn you fame and fortune as you progress on your journey to Rock Band stardom.

Rocker Blogs: Find out what’s happening behind the scenes with your favorite bands through their blogs. Use your blog to communicate with band mates about practice times, meet others with similar musical interests and keep your groupies in the loop with the website’s unique blogs.

Rock Band Forums: Interact with other rockers and music lovers about anything and everything rock!

Photo Creator: (Coming Soon!) Take the ultimate promo band or solo shot with the website’s Photo Creator. Pick a location, the right lighting, and a coordinated (or not!) pose for your band. Take it over the top cheesy or seriously intense. It’s all about your band’s total image.

For more information and to join the growing collection of fans, visit www.ROCKBAND.com and www.harmonixmusic.com.

New Blue Dragon content pack available now

New Blue Dragon download content hit Xbox LIVE Marketplace today with the release of “6 Treasures“. This is the second content package released for the game (the first was “Hard Mod” back in September) and includes the following six items:

1) “Whimsical Mind” – growth item that enhances a few randomly-picked categories by 0-4 levels

2) “Way of Thieves” – in-battle item that can steal rare items possessed by enemy creatures

3) “Devee Phonograph” – allows you to listen to the “Devee-tribe dance”

4) “Nothing Glasses” – visualizes all “nothing” points by means of a star-looking symbol (oftentimes you’ll find a lot of items that contain “nothing”, followed by an English-speaking narrator saying “nothing”).

5) “Shuffled Helmet” – item that adjusts magical and speed parameters (Magic +40 / Speed -40). Detrimental when used by itself because the speed parameter goes down by 50 points, but when equipped along with “Shuffled Breastplate” and “Shuffled Splint”, this item can quadruplicate the Magic parameters and reverse the Speed parameters. So it becomes the strongest equipment in the game. (Magic +160 / Speed +40)

6) Spring-wind Scarf”” – adjusts characters’ HP and Speed parameters by 20%

6 Treasures” is available now on Marketplace for 200 Microsoft Points.

Free Pinball FX table coming soon

Zen Studios has just sent word that they will be offering up a brand new table for Pinball FX for free! The new Buccaneer Table will be included alongside a game update and should hit Xbox LIVE on Wednesday, October 31st. In addition to its affordable price, the new table will also feature several new game modes and its own, dedicated Achievement.

The news seems to contradict the information I posted yesterday that Pinball FX content would be coming tomorrow(?). Either way, it’s a great Halloween “treat” which will surely “trick” out Pinball FX even more!
